Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician
Details
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine has several openings for Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) physicians. The PEM Physician will provide direct patient care at the Pediatric Emergency Department and Rapid Treatment Unit at Primary Children's Hospital's Salt Lake Campus (Salt Lake City, UT) and the Larry H. and Gayle Miller Primary Children's Hospital's Lehi Campus (Lehi, UT). Patient care includes the full range of illness and injury in children 0-18 years and beyond in particular chronic illness populations. The PEM Physician will work collaboratively with surgical and medical consultants in developing optimal plans of care and disposition plans. Non-PEM traditional clinical care responsibilities will also be required (after hours and rural clinics, telemedicine). Medical control of fixed-wing and helicopter medical transport services and consultative assistance to clinics and outside emergency departments is expected. All clinical care is to be documented in the electronic medical record of Intermountain Healthcare, and documentation finalized within 7 days or less of date of service (most documentation should be finalized within 48 hours of service). There are expectations for academic, education, and service work outside of clinical care that includes funded research, educational, advocacy, and administrative roles.
Qualified candidates must have successfully completed a Pediatric residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program, or an Emergency Medicine residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship program; and must be Board Certified in Pediatrics or in Emergency Medicine. Post residency experience at a Level 1 trauma center is preferred. Selected candidates will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department and University offers a competitive salary and an unmatched benefits program, including non-contributory retirement contributions of 20.2% of annual salary that vest immediately. The Department offers a faculty development and mentoring program designed to foster success in translational or basic research, quality improvement engagement, and excellence as educators.
