Pediatric Pathologist
Details
The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah is seeking two pathologists with training in the diagnosis, teaching, and clinical research of pediatric pathology. The positions are needed to balance recent growth with the opening of a second hospital campus and retirements in this long-stable group. Candidates must be certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology or equivalent and be eligible for certification in Pediatric Pathology. Candidates must also be eligible for medical licensure in Utah. Salary and rank will be based on training and experience.
The Division of Pediatric Pathology is based at Primary Children's Hospital on the campus of the University of Utah. Operated by Intermountain Healthcare, Primary Children's serves a 5-state area in the Intermountain West and includes the 332-bed Salt Lake City Campus hospital as well as the recently opened 66-bed Miller Campus hospital just south of the city. The Division currently includes 8 pediatric pathologists and has a fellowship training program. Opportunities and mentoring to develop specific areas of expertise (oncologic pathology, GI, neuropathology, perinatal/autopsy, laboratory/transfusion medicine) are available.
The Department of Pathology has excellent clinical, research, and education programs; operates a national reference laboratory, ARUP Laboratories, and is integrated with the Huntsman Cancer Institute, which provide exceptional opportunities for research and education. Salt Lake City offers a unique and spectacular natural environment with world-class trails and facilities minutes from the hospital, as well as all the benefits of a cosmopolitan city.
Positions are currently available, but opportunities for fellows graduating in 2025 will also be encouraged. For inquiries and information, please contact Kyle Kurek, Professor and Associate Chief of Pediatric Pathology, Department of Pathology, University of Utah (kyle.kurek@path.utah.edu).
