ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SCREENWRITING
The Department of Film & Media Arts and the Department of English at the University of Utah invite applications for a joint-appointed tenure-track Assistant Professor of Screenwriting to begin August 2025. We seek a colleague with expertise in screenwriting to teach foundational courses in addition to electives related to writing for a range of contemporary media, including serial narrative and video games. The candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of both the theory and the craft of writing for screens and be able to develop new writing courses that will serve students across the breadth of our programs in creative writing and film and media arts. Our ideal candidate's work will reflect the range of creative possibilities attendant to the proliferation of screens and platforms that characterizes 21st century narrative art.

Required Qualifications
- M.F.A. or other terminal degree in screenwriting, creative writing, or a related field
- Evidence of successful college-level teaching
- Ability to teach screenwriting at the freshmen and sophomore levels and to develop and teach upper-division and graduate courses related to writing for a range of media forms
- A record of creative work, evidence of which may include produced credits and significant screenings at festivals, on major streaming platforms, or for broadcast; writing contest successes; and published works such as long- and short-form fiction and creative nonfiction, poetry, graphic novels, hybrid media projects, and video games.
- Interest in and evidence of potential for securing external grants and funding.
