Job Summary

The Shen Lab at the University of Utah Department of Biochemistry seeks a motivated postdoctoral researcher with a primary duty consisting of research-related work. The individual will focus on protein biochemistry and structural biology in cancer-relevant projects. Required to meet FLSA threshold to be paid on a salaried basis, otherwise employment record will convert to hourly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on biological materials and computational processing
• Developing and improving training materials and lab procedures
• Training researchers in instrumentation and/or technical procedures
• Report and present research findings and developments including status and results clearly and efficiently both internally and externally, verbally and in writing.
• Suggest and engage in team collaborations to meet ambitious research goals.
• Work with external collaborators and maintain relationships with relevant research labs and key individuals as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications


Preferences

• Knowledge of structural methods, such as cryo-EM or X-ray crystallography.
• Data processing in UNIX-based systems.
• Experience with bacterial and mammalian tissue culture.
