Research Scientist
Job Summary
Seeking highly motivated research scientist to perform mechanistic studies for the characterization of novel inflammatory and cell death pathways involved in the initiation and progression of solid tumors. PI Mei Koh's lab focuses on the identification of new therapeutic strategies that exploit the inflammatory and hypoxic tumor microenvironment. While some degree of freedom is expected, the candidate will be expected to independently drive a research project related to novel mechanisms that regulate ferroptosis in cancer. Thus, expertise in cell signaling pathways, particularly those implicated in cancer, is highly desirable. The candidate should also be able to write research articles and mentor lab technicians, graduate students and junior postdocs with minimal supervision.
Candidates must possess a PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular pharmacology or related field. Candidates should have high proficiency in general cell biology and molecular biology techniques including cell culture, molecular cloning, western blots, PCR, and cell viability/reporter assays. Experience in animal handling/surgery is desirable but not essential. Candidates should be organized, able to work independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative research environment. Fluency in English is required. Candidates should be eligible to work in the USA.
