The Department of History at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin on August 15, 2025. The area of specialization is open, with a preference for candidates with expertise in aspects of the Atlantic World. This position places a strong emphasis on community engagement, particularly fostering partnerships with local schools and social studies educators. The standard teaching load is 3-2, and the successful candidate will demonstrate a robust research agenda consistent with the expectations for tenure at an R2 institution. In addition to teaching courses in their area of specialization, the candidate will contribute to the department’s general education curriculum, including survey courses in American, European, and Global History. A commitment to teaching and mentoring graduate students, as well as active engagement in departmental and institutional service, is essential. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
