Job Details
Florida Southern College announces a 9-month full-time, tenure-track faculty position for the Exercise Science program. The position requires an educational background and professional experience in the exercise and sport science field. The applicant should excel in teaching at the undergraduate level and possess the ability to teach a broad range of classes within the Exercise Science program. This faculty position reports to the Exercise Science Program Director and to the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences with expectations to:
- Instruct (12) undergraduate credits per semester in a multitude of different Exercise Science courses to support the major such as, but not limited to: exercise physiology, exercise testing, sports performance analytics, sport psychology, and research in exercise performance. Additional opportunities to pursue personal teaching interests may be available as directed by program needs;
- Demonstrate collaboration, collegiality, and support for program excellence;
- Promote and implement high impact pedagogical practices to support engaged teaching and learning;
- Conduct research/scholarly activities;
- Supervise student practical field experiences;
- Conduct additional faculty duties such as but not limited to: academic advising, engaging in professional and community service, and participating in faculty governance through service on Program, School, and College committees.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree, or ABD near completion, in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or closely related field. If ABD candidate is selected, completion of the doctorate degree is required by the end of the first full academic year;
- Professional certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the American College of Sports Medicine and/or or similar professional organizations;
- Demonstrated potential for research and scholarly activity;
- Industry experience in strength and conditioning across diverse populations is preferred;
- A minimum of two (2) years teaching experience at the college level preferred.
