JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Vice Provost of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Faculty Engagement is responsible for the creation of a collaborative, effective environment that advances excellence in teaching and learning through faculty development, instructional innovation, and strategic engagement. The Associate Vice Provost leads initiatives and provides support to enhance pedagogical practices, integrate emerging educational technologies, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration among faculty. This position is a twelve-month position that holds faculty status.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic plan initiatives for teaching, learning, and faculty engagement to ensure alignment with institutional goals.
- Maintains an environment that encourages and facilitates interdisciplinary engagement, participation, collegiality, and innovation.
- Serves as a mentor to and leads new faculty orientation programs.
- Builds strong relationships with faculty and staff to foster a collaborative community of practice.
- Works with faculty to offer personalized coaching and consultations, in groups or individually, to foster excellence in teaching, assessment of student outcomes, focusing on course design, curriculum development, and instructional improvement.
- Collaborates with Student Affairs to provide expertise in the development or enhancement of tutoring, learning communities, supplemental instruction, and student success programs.
- Facilitates the first- and second-year experiences to ensure student success.
- Maintains personal professional development by staying updated on literature on teaching and learning, emerging teaching and learning technologies, and electronic platforms.
- Guides faculty in the integration of technology to support teaching and learning.
- Establishes schedules for faculty development activities in consultation with Academic Deans/Department Chairs and in collaboration with the shared governance system.
- Leads efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional strategies and faculty development programs.
- Uses data to inform decision-making and recommend improvements to enhance teaching quality and faculty engagement.
- Responsible for assessing faculty needs for development, designing programs to meet identified needs, and assessing effectiveness of programs from attendance, satisfaction, and outcomes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position does have supervisory responsibility.
- This position will conduct other duties as assigned or needed.
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Higher Education Administration or a related discipline).
- Strong academic background as an expert educator across both online and on campus pedagogy and teaching methodologies.
- Demonstrated capacity to develop faculty colleagues as excellent educators.
- Expertise with administration of learning management systems, instructional technology, and faculty development in the use of such and similar systems.
- General Office Environment: Primarily seated work with occasional periods of standing and walking.
- Technology Use: Frequent use of computers.
- Communication: Regular communication via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Travel: Minimal travel may be required for conferences and professional development opportunities.
