Job Description:

The School of Education is seeking a full-time Visiting Professor (Open Rank) with expertise in Early Childhood, Childhood, Adolescent, and/or Special Education. We seek someone with a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates and graduates enrolled in teacher preparation programs. The successful applicant will engage with colleagues whose interests and work span pre-K to post-graduate education and who prepare students to be innovative scholar-leaders. The candidate should be prepared to teach both introductory courses and advanced courses in their area/s of expertise. Duties will include teaching courses (2+2 load per academic year) across programs as needed, based on the candidate's expertise; fieldwork supervision, if needed; publishing and obtaining funding to support research in early childhood, childhood, adolescent, and/or special education; advising students; attend departmental and program meetings; and serving on department, school, and university committees.


Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • PhD degree in curriculum and instruction, teacher education, educational psychology, specific education subject area, and/or related education area
  • Teaching certification in early childhood, childhood, students with disabilities, literacy, or related area
  • Active research program in early childhood, childhood, adolescent, educational foundations, specific education subject area, and/or special education as evidenced by scholarly and professional publications and/or external funding, presenting at regional or national professional conferences
  • Two + years teaching undergraduate and/or graduate teacher preparation courses
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusion and multicultural competence and contributions to the diversity and excellence of an academic community
  • Demonstrated interest in personal ongoing professional development, incorporation of research to practice, and/or community engagement activities.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of full-time classroom teaching experience or related experience in PK-12 settings
  • Five + years teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses
  • B-12 student teaching supervision and/or cooperating teaching experience

Additional Information:

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor (10 month)
