Job Description:
The Resident Director is responsible for the administration of one or more coeducational residence halls housing between 200 and 450 students and actively supports the Department's mission by making them inviting, intellectual, and inclusive communities. The RD supervises 12 Resident Assistants and 1 Assistant Resident Director, reports to the Assistant Director for the Residential Community, and shares in a weekly on-duty rotation and the departmental recess duty rotation. This is a live-in position and the incumbent must reside in their assigned on-campus apartment designated by the Department of Residential Life.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise student staff and Assistant Resident Director
- Student conduct adjudication
- Facilities management
- Community building and conflict resolution
- Serve on call and on duty on a weekly basis to respond to all emergencies, mental health, and enforce University policies
- Provide programming and resource for all students
- Live-in professional responsible for all emergencies
- Serve on department, University-wide and/or or divisional committees
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
- At least two years full time experience in higher education administration or a related field
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.
- Masters degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
- Experience working in college/university housing
- Experience with supervision
- Experience with crisis management
- Experience with developing college/university residence hall communities
- Experience reporting and following up on maintenance, safety, and security concerns of building facilities
