Job Description:

This position supports the undergraduate nanotechnology, metrology and electronics labs. Topics covered include thermodynamics, kinetics, acid-base chemistry, chemical synthesis, microstructural analysis, analog electronics, digital electronics and device testing.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work with faculty and interns in the organization of the nanotechnology, metrology, and electronics laboratories.
    • Inventory supplies and consumables; submit orders to replenish supplies as needed based on enrollment
    • Prepare undergraduate lab stations with assigned faculty for experiments
    • Disassemble and store lab stations upon completion of labs.
    • Maintain equipment and lab space in a good state of repair and manage consumables.
    • Aid with equipment installation.
  • Assist in teaching nanotechnology, metrology and electronics laboratories.
    • Ensure that rules, policies, and safety guidelines are followed.
    • Supervise Teaching assistants assigned to metrology & electronics lab sections
    • Assist with the grading of undergraduate reports
    • Maintain records as required for grade reporting and engineering accreditation
  • Assist faculty in developing new laboratory courses in nanotechnology and materials characterization
  • Work with staff and other users to effectively manage existing space with clear delineation and labeling
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in science or engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • 2 years' experience in a scientific research facility/laboratory
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-7 years' experience in a laboratory setting working with equipment and experiments
  • Experience supervising or instructing students in a laboratory or classroom environment
  • Familiarity with ABET and other accrediting pr by processes

Additional Information:

Professional Rank and Salary Grade: SL-3, $60,000-$65,000
