Job Description:

The Online Program Coordinator/Lecturer manages academic and online program functions for the Department of Literacy Teaching and Learning. The Online Program Coordinator/Lecturer will advise both new and continuing students, teach courses, and facilitate workshops and orientations. The Online Program Coordinator/Lecturer will provide candidates with appropriate referrals to campus support services, such as, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Services, and the Disability Access & Inclusion Student Services. The Online Program Coordinator/Lecturer will assist in the development and implementation of student learning outcomes and department outcomes. They will also engage in curriculum development.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Review admissions applications
  • Assist with departmental course scheduling
  • Assess culminating projects
  • Lead orientations and workshops,
  • Engage in on-going programmatic assessment to ensure program quality and adherence to accreditation standards, as applicable
  • Provide practicum placement support and coordination.
  • Teach two courses/semester, including summer, at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Engage in systematic and ongoing reflection on teaching practice.
  • Participate in Department, School, and University service, as applicable
  • Participate in professional organizations, conferences, journals, etc. as appropriate to keep current on research and educational practices

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Doctoral terminal degree in education or a related area from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 12/31/2024. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.
  • Minimum of 3 years PreK-12 teaching experience
  • Program and/or leadership experience
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to problem solve
  • The ability to explain complex requirements in clear and concise terms. The ability to be flexible with workflow to meet the department's and student's needs and to manage multiple tasks per required deadlnes.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and develop trusting relationships with students and University employees. Culturally competent and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and/or experiences.
  • Highly motivated, focused and results oriented. Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal interactions and maintain confidentiality. Collaboration and partnering with other university and community stakeholders to support candidate students success. Proficient computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD/EdD in teacher education, educational psychology, curriculum development, literacy or related field with an emphasis on literacy education.
  • K-12 teaching certification
  • Higher education teaching experience
  • Experience supervising student interns/teachers in a school or University setting
  • Online teaching and/or learning experience

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Lecturer (12 Month), Salary commensurate with experience
