Assistant Teaching Professor, Graduate School of Library and Information Studies (GSLIS)
Position location: Kingston
The Graduate School of Library and Information Studies in the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island is hiring an Assistant Teaching Professor specializing in School Library Media, beginning in Fall 2025. This position is a full-time, non-tenure-track, academic year appointment through June 2026 with the possibility of renewal, annually, based on performance and the availability of funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach 18-24 credit hours per academic year, to include a minimum of one core course (LSC 502, 504, 505, 508, 595) and one SLM course (LSC 513, 530, 531, 520, 527) plus electives in the GSLIS curriculum and advising for the SLM Teacher Certification Program and MLIS with SLM certification, all online in the URI Online accelerated calendar; Assistant Teaching Professors are expected to participate in department service activities as they pertain to their normal instructional responsibilities. Teaching load varies depending on advising and other service loads but will not exceed 24 credit hours of work per academic year.
