Job Summary/Basic Function

The responsibility of this temporary position is to provide assistance to students enrolled in the composition courses, with a primary focus on corequisite courses. This position will be providing support in and out of the classroom, as needed by students and the instructor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competence (at least an A-) in ENGL 101, Rhetoric & Composition or a comparable course.
  • Completed the equivalent of two years of college course work.
  • Strong foundation in reading and writing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience with teaching or tutoring.
  • Candidate must be committed to student retention and success and display exceptional interpersonal and team-working skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts in English or related field.
  • Two years’ experience working at the college level.

Work Schedule
Tuesday and Thursdays: 12:30-2:50 PM EST plus office hours. Office hours are determined in collaboration with supervisor.

Maintain and provide data on students assisted, time spent, and type of assistance provided to supervisor and College Readiness Coordinator

Serve as resource for composition students who are at risk and ensure that they are provided the necessary assistance

Attend composition courses as requested by the faculty to ensure consistency of teaching methods and learning outcomes
