Under the direction of the Director of
Alumni Relations and the Directorof Annual Giving, the Associate
Director plans and implements a variety of community-building,
educational and professional programs to successfully connect
students, recent graduates and the greater alumni population for
the College of Arts & Sciences, Sawyer Business School and
Suffolk Law School. This includes both creating new initiatives and
evaluating existing ones to determine opportunities to add to,
strengthen, or replace programs. The early engagement of students
and recent graduates is critical to the success of Alumni Relations
and Annual Giving by developing the pipeline of future donors and
key alumni leaders.
Responsibilities
Volunteer Management
Serve as the staff liaison and ex-officio member of the Graduates
of the Last Decade (GOLD) Council (SBS and CAS Undergraduates) and
the Law Graduates of the Last Decade Council with a focus on
building a stronger Law GOLD Council group.
Establish strategy to involve more non-GOLD council member
involvement in GOLD initiatives
Partner with volunteer leadership to develop fiscal year goals and
advise and assist with meeting structure/agenda and follow
through.
Guide and assist with the identification and recruitment of GOLD
Council membership in alignment with the Universitys strategic
plan.
Create volunteer engagement opportunities through partnerships with
Admissions, Career Development and Academic departments.
Assist with the development and staffing of volunteer affinity
groups and giving societies.
Serve as the first point of contact student organizations wishing
to connect and network with alumni.
Develop and advise an Alumni Student Alumni Group in collaboration
with the Student Philanthropy Center program focused on student
engagement and student philanthropy education.
Increase the engagement of recent graduates through social media
and virtual and in person programs.
Build pipeline of diverse, recent graduate volunteers for future
GOLD Council membership.
Fundraising
Collaborate closely with development colleagues in increasing
support from recent graduates; assist in identifying alumni
prospects for gifts; communicate development related activities via
written contact reports filed in Colleague Advancement.
Partner with senior advancement colleagues to examine and revise
the Summa Gold giving program.
Develop and execute a strategy for a graduate level class gift
campaign and assist with the senior class gift campaign and the
3L/4L class gift campaign including the recruitment of a volunteer
committee, to maximize gifts from graduating students.
Design and implement young alumni targeted solicitations and giving
campaigns.
Work with Director of Annual Giving to develop opportunities to
leverage alumni volunteers for phone campaigns, direct mail appeals
and e-solicitation materials with tailored message for
youngalumni.
Assist the Sr. Director with the development and implementation of
revenue driven Affinity programs.
Manage portfolio of Summa GOLD prospects
Create relationships with children of parent donors.
Events, Communications and Outreach
Plan and implement a variety of community-building, educational and
professional programs to successfully engage students and recent
graduates with Suffolk including the annual 10 Under 10 Recognition
program.
Plan and implement at least 2 student focused events per year,
Sparkling Toast and 100 Days Until Graduation
Communicate with vendors, students, and faculty in regard to
programming and events.
Collaborate on marketing and collateral pieces to include programs
and invitations, as well as the Alumni Relations events website and
email communications strategy per event.
Collaborate with colleagues in other administrative offices (e.g.,
Career Services, Admissions, Parent Programs, Athletics, and
Student Life) and each school to create and maintain pathways for
young alumni participation that advance the goals of the
university.
Staff on-campus and regional events as necessary.
Ensure all events are consistently executed with the highest level
of quality, are cost-effective and overall support the University's
mission and strategic goals.
Establish and build relationships with a wide range of young
alumni, locally, regionally and nationally; maintain regular
communication with young alumni via direct contact, email blasts,
alumni web pages, and print publications.
Propose and develop new methods of student and young alumni
engagement through events and outreach programs.
Assist in preparing relevant event briefing documents and
supporting materials for Suffolk and Advancement leadership.
Assist in the delivery and execution of other programs/events held
by the Office Advancement including Alumni Weekend, Reunion events,
regional and affinity events.
Operations
Develop a thorough understanding of the Development and Alumni
Relations database system known as Colleague Advance; specifically
running queries and reports.
Assist in data integrity efforts to ensure accurate and complete
alumni database records.
Collaborate with Advancement Services to facilitate the annual
recording of student affiliations in the Advancement database.
Perform additional duties as assigned and assist with special
projects as assigned.
