Job Summary:
The Mail Services Assistant may be assigned to a variety of duties within the Mail Services area. Duties may include computer operation, customer service, manual labor and/or nearly any activity within Publications, Print & Mail as needed.
This is a casual, Non-benefits Eligible position. Work hours will vary and are limited to an as-needed basis, determined by staffing and workload demands.

Job Duties:

Reporting to the Student Mail Coordinator, the Mail Service Assistant will be responsible for:
  • Receiving all incoming mail and packages for students, including but not limited to: using Bucknell's package tracking system, labeling and organizing packages properly.
  • Distributing all incoming mail and packages for students, including but not limited to: Providing assistance at the service window; loading packages into lockers; and coordinating pick up of large items through the dock doors.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Friendly and personable attitude and ability to work cooperatively with students and staff
  • Willingness to provide exceptional customer service
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills, and the ability to work well under pressure is essential
  • Entry-level computer skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Flexible schedule


Physical Requirements:
  • Routinely lift packages up to 30 pounds. Heavier lifting with mechanical assistance or help from other staff
  • Work in a standing position for extended periods
  • Must be able to tolerate temperature changes and higher than usual levels of dust and dirt.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
