Description of Job
Have a strong mechanical aptitude and enjoy fixing things? Join the Mines Structural Trades team in this exciting position.
The purpose of this position is to provide quality general maintenance, with a primary focus on painting and drywall repairs. Additional responsibilities include interior and exterior maintenance such as repairing walls, ceilings, roofing, doors, windows, and flooring, as well as assisting with snow removal. This position may also involve minor furniture and appliance repairs to ensure a well-maintained and functional environment.
It provides all related services necessary to maintain facilities in good working condition, meeting all standards and codes in order to support the mission of a thriving campus with facilities totaling 2.4 million square feet comprising of 474 acres.
Structural Trades I positions assist Structural Trades II and III in providing quality general service for campus buildings to include:
- Painting, drywall, flooring repair
- Door and window installation/repair
- Base & door trim
- Roof, gutter & downspout cleaning
- Furniture assembly & repair
- Ceiling tiles
- Anchoring shelves, windows and equipment
- Window & blind repair
- Snow removal
This position is designated as essential, which means employees may be asked to report to work during emergencies such as inclement weather.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Two years of experience in the structural trades (painting, drywall, flooring repair, door and window installation/repair, roof and gutter repair, minor handyman/general maintenance and carpentry repair, construction experience).
Experience must be clearly documented on application. Part time work will be pro-rated.
Substitutions:
Appropriate education or successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Necessary Special Requirements
A current Colorado Driver's License is required and must be maintained during employment. A copy of your current motor vehicle record (MVR) will be required as a condition of hire. Must be physically able to perform strenuous physical labor including lifting 100 pounds.
