Summary
We are seeking a motivated Medical Assistant I to join the Department of Neurology. This is a really exciting opportunity for individuals in the beginning of their career.
As a Medical Assistant I, you will support our providers by primarily handling incoming referrals and working directly with patients to coordinate direct and indirect services.

Job Duties
- Schedules patient tests, procedures, and appointments.
- Conducts patient outreach phone calls, post visit follow-ups.
- Manages in-basket messages.
- Manages and coordinates incoming patient referrals.
- Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork.
- Performs clerical/administrative responsibilities such as filing and/or scanning patient medical records, obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
- Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs.
- Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the electronic medical record.
- Notes the primary complaint/reason for patient's visit.
- Sets up instruments and equipment for Physician.
- High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
- No experience required.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, or AMCA). New employees who are not currently certified, must obtain certification within six months of employment.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
