Job Summary:
The Scholarly Communications and Copyright Librarian reports to the Director for Research Services and Information Literacy and is directly responsible for advocating for, supporting, and educating the campus community on issues related to scholarly communication, copyright, open access, and open education. The Scholarly Communications and Copyright Librarian is fully engaged with students, faculty, and staff, providing relevant instruction, outreach, and support for scholarship and creative works. The position has liaison duties to academic departments as assigned and will provide research help and information literacy instruction and help build collections for the relevant departments.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits-eligible position based in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

Job Duties:

SUPPORT AND EDUCATION:

Educates and supports members of the campus community on issues related to scholarly communication and copyright.

INSTRUCTION AND COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT:

Serves as a subject liaison for faculty and students in assigned academic disciplines.

ADVOCACY AND OUTREACH:
Serves as an advocate for open practices across campus, including the use of open resources, open and affordable learning materials, and open data.

INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY, ADVOCACY AND MANAGEMENT:

Serves as a champion for the institutional repository and shares responsibility for IR management.

REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT:

Stays current on national and international developments in the field.

COORDINATION AND COLLABORATION:

Coordination and collaboration: participating in and supporting the work of efforts in departments and divisions across campus

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

Participates in all aspects of program and department planning and in the establishment of department goals and objectives. ​​



WORK SETTING:

While this position works closely with students and usually requires an on-campus presence, the role does allow for flexibility to engage in some remote work, particularly when students are not on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- ALA-accredited Masters degree (MLS) in library/information science

- 3-5 years of relevant experience with the scholarly publishing/communications process

KNOWLEDGE AREAS AND SKILLS:

- Demonstrated knowledge of copyright, intellectual property, fair use, and open licensing

- Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and issues pertaining to scholarly publishing, open access and/or open educational practices

- Experience managing/working with Bepress Digital Commons or other institutional repository

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Additional subject area masters degree or juris doctor

- Two years of experience working as an academic librarian

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to use keyboard, computer and other library equipment.

- May be stationary for extended periods.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
