Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Dean for the College of Health Professions and Sciences, the Divisional Finance Officer (DFO) position serves as budget and fiscal manager and is responsible for the direct management of the day-to-day business and financial activities for the College, including annual budget development, budget management, and oversight of Division finances. This position is responsible for managing approximately $26M operating budget, $4M in research expenditures and $10M in foundation funds across three Schools (School of Biomedical Sciences and Health Care Administration, School of Nursing, School of Rehabilitation Sciences and Technology). This role requires interaction and collaboration with university administration, business officers, directors, managers, and staff. This position has supervisory responsibility for up to three positions. As budget and fiscal manager for the Division, this position serves as a member of the Divisions’ administrative leadership group and is expected to exercise discretion, respect, diplomacy, and good judgment in handling difficult or sensitive situations. The DFO ensures excellence, effectiveness, and efficiency of the business operations and is an active participant in campus financial strategy development. 

Work will be performed primarily on the UW-Milwaukee campus. Hybrid work options may be available with specifics regarding work location requirements discussed during the interview process.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 3+ years of professional work experience performing directly related work within a similar function.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards and financial reporting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, finance, business, or relevant field. 
  • Master’s, related advanced degree, or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA).
  • Directly related experience working in Finance in a public university setting.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of collaboration and advancing initiatives across all levels of an organization. 
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools, including PC-based spreadsheet applications and systems.
  • Experience with ERP Systems, including Workday.
