Position Summary
The Executive Director, Strategy and Operations, Engagement and Annual Giving Programs, is responsible for facilitating the administration of the Associate Vice Chancellor’s duties and executing the team’s strategic priorities. The position will work closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor, members of the AVC’s senior leadership team, and staff throughout University Advancement to advance departmental priorities, implement new initiatives, and optimize workflow and efficiency.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership on strategic priorities and projects for areas under the AVC’s purview and serve as a thought partner and strategist for the Associate Vice Chancellor.
- Support the AVC in managing the ongoing and annual planning process for the department: OKR’s (Objectives and Key Results) Operational Planning, Annual Summaries, Budgeting, and Performance Management.
- Represent the AVC in key meetings, serve on UA committees, and oversee the execution of action items as assigned.
- Ensure that members of the EAGP team have the necessary information to drive data-driven decisions. As appropriate, work with key ARCH staff to develop and refine dashboards and metrics tracking systems to meet the needs of EAGP.
- Work closely with Executive Directors on the Philanthropic Strategy and Development Verticals to facilitate communication and collaboration between departments.
- Support the AVC’s responsibilities as a senior leader of University Advancement including meeting preparation and strategy.
- Manage day-to-day operations of Engagement and Annual Giving Programs as it pertains to staffing, HR issues, staff policies and procedures.
- Monitor efforts to fill vacant positions and strategically identify staffing needs that will have the greatest impact on programs. Identify opportunities to enhance training for all staff and work with staff to identify and share best practices.
- Serve as the liaison between the Associate Vice Chancellor and departmental staff to improve workflow, secure answers and approvals in a timely manner, and ensure fulfillment on projects for which the AVC is integral. Provide leadership in enhancing communication and facilitating resolutions surrounding departmental issues and concerns.
- Co-manage the Senior Coordinator, EAGP, along with the AVC, ensuring efficient workflow and effective communication within the department. Provide management and oversight for an Assistant Director and for the Alumni and Donor Operations Support Coordinator. The Alumni and Donor Operations Support Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for inquiries received through email and phone into the Alumni Association and Annual Fund inboxes and phone lines.
