Job Details
Emporia State University’s Teachers College is seeking applications for one 9-month special education with an emphasis in gifted, talented, and creative education faculty position. This position will be a tenure track, campus-based position in our CAEP-accredited special education program. This tenure track appointment includes teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities.
The appointment will commence in August 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The successful applicant will teach a variety of graduate courses in special education. Assigned courses may include characteristics/education/affective needs of gifted students, creative teaching and learning, special education assessment, and/or practicum courses.
- The successful applicant will place and supervise practicum students.
- The position will include teaching online courses at the campus in Emporia.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- A doctorate in degree in special education, or a related field.
- Five or more years of teaching experience in an accredited school. Must include teaching experience in special education gifted education.
- Training in research-based approaches to teach courses related to special education curriculum, instruction, and assessment in gifted education
- Current teaching license at special education gifted level or previously held a valid special education gifted education teaching license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in Special Education Gifted Education or related degree
- Experience teaching elementary education or special education at the graduate level
- Experience supervising gifted education teachers in field experiences
COMPENSATION:
- Salary: $55,485 - $56,000 annually
- Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
