Overview
Assist with the operational, day-to-day aspects of managing and monitoring the safeguarding of the campus information assets.
Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform vulnerability assessment and remediation auditing. Scan system and network with available tools to discover and document vulnerabilities. Work with staff as a resource to help track the resolution of discovered vulnerabilities. Provide an ongoing assessment of all vulnerabilities. Help to negate any potential security issues. (30%)
- Configure and maintain all security platforms used by the information security office, including local appliances/servers or secure, cloud-based solutions. Perform updates to on-prem systems while managing appropriate configurations to ensure full capabilities of security platforms. Review and report on data analysis from all information security systems to ensure any identified threats are documented and remediated. Keep the systems used by the information security office up-to-date and configured for accurate data reporting. (25%)
- Assist with the development and maintenance of all information security documentation such as policies and guidelines. Research and help develop policies and guidelines to meet information security industry standard best practices. Research any compliance mandates to ensure appropriate language is included to conform with any compliance requirements. Provide a well-researched and thought out set of written policies and guidelines. (20%)
- Provide scheduled training seminars on information security best practices. Assist with any required training seminars to help support compliance requirements. Assist with the administration and maintenance of training resources. Help to ensure faculty, staff, and students are educated and aware of security and compliance information to lower the risk of an information security breach. (10%)
- Assist with developing and maintaining an Information Security Office web portal. Develop security related content and ensure all content is organized and up to date. (10%)
- Collaborate with Emergency Management on business continuity planning (BCP) for all identified departments. Assist with the technical administration of the BCP platform to ensure Emergency Management has appropriate access and ability to perform BCP functions. Work with Emergency Management staff to assist with any BCP platform questions. (5%)
MARGINAL DUTIES:
- Perform all other duties as may be required.
Education and Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science from an accredited institution required. Industry certification is a plus.
- Three to five years’ experience in IT security or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security architectures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
