Overview

Oversee a comprehensive residential education program ensuring all students experience a quality residential student experience. Develop and oversee a residential curriculum that promotes student growth and development.

Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Recruit, hiring, train, and supervise all live-on staff including complex directors, graduate assistants, resident assistants and other student workers. Develop and implement a comprehensive training and professional development program for staff at these levels. With support from the complex directors, oversee the resident assistant selection and evaluation process. Collaborate with multiple college partners on student and professional staff training. (35%)
  2. Develop and implement a residential curriculum that promotes student growth and development in support of the college’s strategic plan and the Student Affairs PC Path. Collaborate with campus partners. In partnership with Campus Ministry, integrate the hall chaplaincy program and faith into the residential student experience. Develop student leadership roles within residence life, including resident assistants, head resident assistants, and hall councils. Administer departmental assessment tools and data collection. Administer the EBI/Skyfactor Assessment and conduct annual assessment projects. Oversee summer programming and living learning communities in the residence halls. Manage the residence life programming budget. (30%)
  3. With support from the assistant director, manage the Advocate Incident report database ensuring timely referrals to Community Standards and the CARE Team as well as ensure appropriate and timely follow up by residence life staff. Serve as the administrator on call on weekends and after hours. Attend weekly incident review meetings when needed and serve as the residence life representative on the CARE Team in the assistant dean’s absence. Collaborate with the Dean of Students Office, Community Standards, and Public Safety in addressing behavior concerns in the residence halls. Support the college’s crisis response efforts and, in the assistant dean’s absence, serve as the leader in crisis response efforts. Coordinate the complex director on duty schedule and oversee resident assistant duty structure. (25%)
  4. Conduct roommate mediations. Respond to concerns from students, parents, and other stakeholders regarding the residential student experience. Assist with the housing selection process and manage room switches when requested. (10%)


MARGINAL DUTIES:

  1. Perform all other duties as may be required.


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in a higher education related discipline from an accredited institution required.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in residence life or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to multi-task as well as work as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and/or a commitment to, contribute to the Catholic and Dominican identify of the College.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Excel for analyzing data.
  • Advanced knowledge of eRezLife for housing data and emergency contact information.
  • Advance experience with advocate for report processing related to student contact.
  • Knowledge of Persona and Transact for residence all access.
