Overview

The new Department of Nursing at Providence College (also referred to as “the College” or “PC”) seeks to fill one tenure-track faculty position in the field of Maternal Newborn nursing, beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. The successful candidates will spearhead the development of integrated didactic and experiential learning courses that will prepare undergraduate nursing in this specialty area. The successful candidates will also participate in the department’s team-taught senior seminar and capstone and the NCLEX Prep course and teach other courses in their area of interest and specialization. Nursing faculty will maintain an active scholarly agenda and contribute professional service according to the college’s expectations of tenured/pre-tenured faculty. Candidates with an earned doctorate and advanced professional training and clinical experience in Maternal Newborn nursing are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting and historic opportunity to join PC’s newly established School of Nursing and Health Sciences and shape an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum for the next generation of students entering nursing. Construction was recently completed on the 150,000+ sq. ft state-of-the-art facility located on the PC Campus, The Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences . This new facility houses the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and future nursing undergraduate and graduate programs in development. The Center also features the latest classroom design and technologies and showcases an extensive simulation suite for maternal and newborn specialty education with expansive clinical simulation laboratories and research facilities.

Ideal candidates will be able to make meaningful connections between best practices in nursing education dedicated to the dignity of the whole person and in support of the Catholic Mission and identity of the College. As the student body at Providence College grows increasingly diverse, we have a strong preference for candidates who demonstrate a deep commitment to and proven ability in supporting the success of students from historically marginalized economic, social, and cultural groups.
