POSITION SUMMARY: The Department of Biological Sciences at Moravian University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular biology starting Fall semester of 2025. This faculty member will engage in teaching, research, and service at the university. Their teaching responsibilities will include:
  • 200-level cell and molecular biology course (lecture and lab)
  • 300-level biochemistry II course (lecture and lab)
  • Additional teaching responsibilities may include one semester survey of biochemistry, foundational biology courses, electives and writing-intensive seminars in the candidate’s area of expertise, and university-level general education requirements, depending on the needs of the department and the interests of the candidate.
Teaching will be fully in-person on our main campus in Bethlehem, PA. The Department of Biological Sciences values active, student-centered approaches to learning as well as inquiry-based labs that teach authentic skills. We invite applications from colleagues who share these goals.

We particularly invite candidates to apply who have research expertise in protein biochemistry, cell or molecular biology, cancer biology, signal transduction, or a related field. The successful candidate will establish an active research program involving undergraduate student collaborators.

Lastly, the candidate will engage in both departmental and university service including but not limited to academic advising and serving on various committees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaching at the undergraduate level using best practices and pedagogies
  • Academic advising for biology and biochemistry majors
  • Maintaining an active research program with undergraduates
  • Commitment to the University’s values and mission

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum: PhD in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, or related biological science
  • Preferred: successful teaching experience beyond the teaching-assistant (TA) level
