Experimental Machinist
About the Opportunity
- Required: High school diploma plus two years technical
college
- Preferred: Trade school certification for a toolmaker or
machinist program
- Combination of experience and education will be considered.
Minimum of 5 years hands on experience in a Model shop/Experimental
machining environment.
- Must be flexible to changing requirements of the job and be
able to interact with University faculty, staff, students and
coworkers
Job Requirements - Possess superior machining skills to be able to fabricate
fixtures and components to close tolerances from drawings, sketches
or verbal instruction
- Minimum five years experience with Bridgeport Milling machines,
Harding Tool Room lathe, Horizontal / Vertical band saw, Surface
grinding and associated feeds and speeds
- Minimum five years experience with CNC milling and lathe, setup
and operation and the related software. Prototrak milling and lathe
experience is a plus
- Minimum three years experience with Solidworks CAD software
and/or Camworks software programs is a plus
- Must possess personal basic machine shop tools, to be used at
work on a daily basis.
- Basic experience with soldering and brazing a variety of
metals
- Must be a self starter and work with minimum
supervision
- This position would often handle loads up to 50 pounds, as well
as lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling
- This position involves making repetitive motions and standing
for long periods of time
- The candidate must be able to work with and support a diverse
and inclusive campus environment
