Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy
Creighton University, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy. Creighton University seeks to employ a dynamic and collaborative leader who can build on the strengths of the past while exploring and embracing change for the future. A commitment to leadership in the tradition of Jesuit education is desired. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track administrative role.
The OT Department is nationally recognized for its leadership and innovation in occupational therapy doctoral education and offers its program through a campus-based pathway in Omaha and hybrid pathways in Phoenix on Creighton’s Health Science Campus, with Regis University in Denver, Colorado and with the University of Alaska in Anchorage. In addition, the Department of Occupational Therapy supports three ACOTE accredited fellowship programs. The program supports 30 core faculty members in a top 20 ranked professional doctoral program with the Chair position being located in Omaha, Nebraska. In addition to faculty and administrative responsibilities, the Chair will be responsible for developing faculty, ensuring accreditation requirements and leading educational initiatives in occupational therapy education.
Responsibilities:
- Promoting the mission, values, and vision of Creighton University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community.
- Oversight of the OTD program (at all locations) and OT fellowships.
- Ensuring compliance with the ACOTE accreditation standards.
- Faculty hiring, development, and management.
- Teaching in the program.
- Oversight of budget for OTD program and OT fellowships.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clinical services and collaborating with them when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Earned academic terminal degree (OTD, PhD, EdD, etc.)
- Have eight (8) years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy. This experience must include:
- Clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist.
- Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting.
- Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning).
- Understanding the role of the occupational therapy assistant.
- Four (4) years of experience as a faculty member with teaching responsibilities at the postbaccalaureate level.
- Achieved academic rank of Associate or Full Professor.
- Knowledge of the ACOTE accreditation process with previous experience with the self-study process.
- Commitment to educational leadership in a new and innovative environment.
- Commitment to justice, diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Demonstrated exemplary record of teaching; experience with hybrid or on-line teaching is preferred.
- Demonstrated exemplary achievement in scholarly/research productivity with a vision for faculty scholarship/research support.
- Licensed as an Occupational Therapist and eligibility for OT licensure in the state of Nebraska.
