Christopher Newport University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Joseph W. Luter, III School of Business.

Christopher Newport University is an exceptional academic community of 5,000 students. Many of its programs are recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions: Wason Center for Civic Leadership, President's Leadership Program, Ferguson Center for the Performing Arts, Mary M. Torggler Fine Arts Center, and its nationally acclaimed athletic programs.

Established in 1979, the AACSB accredited Joesph W. Luter, III School of Business is a connected community of nearly 500 extraordinary students who are taught and mentored by 25 faculty and 6 staff. The Luter School of Business is one of the top ranked undergraduate business programs in the country and offers majors in finance, marketing, management, and accounting. Luter also offers a master's degree in financial analysis.

The dean reports directly to the University's Provost and Executive Vice President, Dr. Quentin Kidd. The successful candidate should have the ability and interest to develop, articulate, and execute a shared vision for the school. The dean should have a strong commitment to supporting the educational mission of the University, with high standards in teaching, research, and service, as well as having the skillsets to serve as the chief spokesperson and advocate for the Luter School of Business both within and outside of the University.

The Dean must have demonstrated professional experience as listed above. In addition, the Dean must hold an advanced degree, preferably in business or a closely related field. Candidates should have either held a position at the level of Dean, Associate Dean, or Department Chair, or a distinguished position of leadership in the public or private sector and are ready and able to assume a challenging academic career focusing on college administration. The skills of the successful candidate include the ability to lead, inspire and motivate people, objectivity, and organizational habits that model professional work-place behavior.

Buffkin / Baker is assisting Christopher Newport University in the search, which will remain open until filled. Priority consideration will be given to materials received by February 1, 2025.
