Position Summary

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse College of Science and Health, Nuclear Medicine Technology ( NMT ) program seeks applicants for a new full-time annual appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor. The Nuclear Medicine Technology program offers a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology and is accredited by the JRCNMT . The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse students enjoy a 100 percent NMTCB exam pass rate and have exceptional academic and clinical experiences. This program has clinical sites in Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Illinois. With a 100% graduation rate, it is one of the largest NMT Bachelor’s programs in the United States, graduating approximately 28-30 students per year. The program’s strong relationships with both clinical and academic affiliations make it unique compared to other NMT programs and brings the benefit of having the resources of a large program, yet the ability to provide personalized education with the small classroom sizes during the clinical internship year.

The primary responsibility of this position is providing in-person and online education, educating the public and the UWL community about NMT, student advising, leadership, and curriculum development.

Required Qualifications
  • CNMT ( NMTCB ) or RT (N) ( ARRT ) certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field completed at the time of start date
  • A minimum of 2 years clinical experience
  • Excellent interpersonal/written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers
  • Desire to be a lifelong learner through professional development and networking
  • Willingness to obtain a Master’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience (clinical experience acceptable)
  • Interest in involvement in NMT organizations ( SNMMI, ASRT, ARRT, JRCNMT, etc.)
  • Master’s degree or progress towards a Master’s degree
  • Ability to provide leadership and demonstrate professional behavior
  • Be a self-directed learner and able to function independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical educators to achieve educational learning objectives

The Nuclear Medicine Technology Program is part of the Department of Health Professions which includes Medical Dosimetry, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Radiography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and Radiation Therapy. The department is in the College of Science and Health. The Nuclear Medicine Technology Program is housed in the Health Science Center ( HSC ), recognized for its spacious, well-appointed teaching labs, and classrooms. Our Nuclear Medicine Technology Program has strong alliances with national, regional, and local medical centers and practices.

Duties to Support Responsibility
  • Develop syllabi to meet content objectives assigned as part of the curriculum design
  • Develop and continually update course content and teaching methods in compliance with curriculum design and JRCNMT standards
  • Provide classroom instruction including lectures, active learning assignments, assessments, etc.
  • Provide virtual classroom instruction including lectures and assessments
  • Develop and implement methods to assess student learning, course effectiveness, and teaching effectiveness in academic program assessment plan
  • Collect SEI scores and course/instructor evaluations for each course per semester
  • Update courses annually incorporating the collected assessment information
  • Maintain office hours in order to advise and assist students
  • Maintain student records, e.g., grades, advising, attendance, student professional development, etc., and report information as needed
  • Collaborate with program director and clinical educators for curricular purposes to ensure continuity of core curriculum delivery
  • Maintain knowledge in content areas and develop teaching expertise through professional development
  • Remain current in technology to enhance teaching and communication with colleagues
