The Department of Linguistics & Philosophy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA invites applications for a tenure-track position in linguistics at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor without Tenure level, starting July 1, 2025, or as soon thereafter as possible. The appointment will be made in the area of either Language Acquisition or Experimental/Computational Linguistics. The department seeks candidates whose research connects productively with current issues in core areas of linguistic theory. We welcome applicants whose work is wholly within linguistics as well as applicants whose work connects linguistics with adjacent research in cognitive science or computer science, including human sentence processing, developmental psychology, learnability theory, language and the brain, or computational modeling of language, its acquisition and processing. The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent inLinguistics or a related field by the start of employment, and will be expected to participate in the research, teaching and advising activities of our department. Faculty duties include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Linguistics and related subjects; conducting research; and advising students.
