Applications are invited for the position of Senior Lecturer (holding the title of Advanced Professional Trainer) in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref: 530816). The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a two-year or three-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, will be offered, along with annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment includes contract-end gratuity and a University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of the basic salary.
The appointee will be involved in the professional capacity building team of the Jockey Club End-of-Life Community Care Project for Persons with Disabilities, focusing on professional training and public education in end-of-life care (EoLC). Duties and responsibilities include:
- Adopting innovative pedagogy to design and deliver specific training programs on EoLC issues, targeting stakeholders ranging from healthcare and social care professionals, family caregivers, and volunteers to the general public.
- Generating evidence-based content on end-of-life care, aligned with the professional training and public education activities of the project.
- Supporting and performing other duties as assigned.
- A good Master’s degree or higher qualification in Social Work, Public Health, Mental Health, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Counseling, Nursing, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of solid experience in conducting professional training for the medical and/or social work sector on End-of-Life Care (EoLC) and/or public education on EoLC-related topics in Hong Kong.
- Good command of written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English.
- Expert competence in areas including, but not limited to, palliative care, family counseling, the use of art, therapeutic groups, and bereavement care.
- A strong reputation in the psycho-social and communication aspects of EoLC. Knowledge of e-learning design would be an advantage.
