Prep Cook
Description
The prep cook prepares cold items for the lunch and dinner meals and prepares all stock items for the salad bar. Assists with hot food prep if needed.
This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $18.19-$22.28 per hour.
Core Responsibilities:
Food Preparation
- Prep vegetables, fruits, and food items for use in prepared
salads, hot food, catered events, and stock items for the salad bar
area.
- Prepares all dressings for the salad bar area.
- Ensure that vegetables are properly cut and stored to maintain
freshness.
- Responsible for making daily special salads.
Kitchen Support
- Assist cooks, kitchen workers, and perform other duties as
necessary.
- Set up initial food item(s) for meals and vary food production to ensure food is fresh and the proper amount is prepared to avoid shortages or oversupply.
Sanitation and Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area and use proper precautions to ensure fresh and clean products.
Inventory and Ordering
- Consult receiver and create a daily produce order.
Requirements
- General knowledge of vegetable and food item storage and shelf
life.
- 1 year of previous food preparation experience.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day and up to 50 lbs. several times each day. Must be able to lift items above waist level. Must be able to push and pull up to 150 lbs. frequently. This job requires bending and reaching activities. Must be able to perform numerous manual tasks and use a variety of kitchen equipment in a safe manner. This job requires long periods of standing.
