POSITION:        Assistant Professor of Journalism and Communication

TITLE:                Assistant Professor, Tenure Track

START DATE:    August 2025

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates will provide evidence of the following qualifications:

Required:

  • Master’s degree in journalism, video production, communication studies, or related field
  • College-level teaching experience or five years professional experience in any of the following: multimedia journalism, broadcast production, professional videography, composition or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver introductory and upper-level courses in journalism, broadcast production, and communication studies
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in journalism, video production, communication studies or related field
  • Prior experience teaching in introductory and upper-level courses in journalism, video production, composition, and broadcast production
  • Prior experience working in multimedia journalism, broadcast production, or related field
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness

Successful candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to support the College’s mission and contribute to the strategic plan.

DUTIES:

The successful candidate will fulfill the duties of tenure track faculty to include:

  • Teaching three courses each semester and teaching one course in the May term
  • The successful candidate will also engage in academic advising, service to the department and other related student work in Knight Vision broadcast/student media
  • Primary teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper-level courses in multimedia journalism, composition, and broadcast production
