Position Description
The Department of Engineering Technology is seeking applicants to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor to teach in the online Master of Science and the new (pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) PhD program in Engineering Management at Texas State University. The chosen candidate will provide relevant and innovative instruction within the Engineering Management program, primarily for distance learning students. Applicants with expertise in all areas related to engineering management are invited to apply, and particular consideration will be given to candidates with past online teaching experience in an engineering or industry management discipline.

The individual selected for this position will be expected to teach graduate level and some undergraduate courses, as departmental needs require. The selected candidate is also expected to secure external funding and to conduct and publish research in areas appropriate for an emerging research institution. Engagement in service to the university and the profession is also expected.

The selected candidate will be given the appropriate rank based on college and university standards and policy.

This position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications
For all ranks
  • An earned doctoral degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, computer/data science, management science, operations research, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent
  • An undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution, or a closely related field from a similarly accredited institution
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills


For the rank of associate professor, in addition to those required above:
  • A demonstrated record of excellent teaching abilities, including in an online environment
  • A strong record of research (as PI or co-PI) and peer-reviewed publications associated with external funding adequate to support students
  • A minimum of six years of teaching experience as a full-time faculty member in a related discipline
For the rank of professor, in addition to those required above:
  • A minimum of 12 years of teaching experience as a full-time faculty member in a related discipline
  • An established national reputation among peers and demonstrated leadership through service to the university, professional organizations, and community or government agencies


Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry experience in management science, analytics, operations research, engineering management, engineering or engineering technology
  • Research interests and experience in fields complementary to those of other faculty in the department
  • Ability to develop new course content and teach in a fully online environment
  • Professional certification and/or licensure in a related discipline
