Mount Aloysius College is seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic ASL Events Coordinator for a part-time, in-person opportunity in our American Sign Language-English Interpretation Department, set to begin in the Spring 2025 semester.

Current Opening

The ASL Events Coordinator is responsible for creating, scheduling, planning, developing, and implementing events both on and off campus. This position conceptualizes theme ideas, plans budgets, reserves venues, serves as the liaison between suppliers and clients, manages logistics, and prepares and presents post-event reports.  Also coordinates the ASL/EI resources including text books, videos, materials, and the lending library housed in the ASL/EI Department. The ASL Events Coordinator will work closely with the ASL-EI faculty, students, ASL Club, and reports to the ASL-EI Department Chairperson.

This part-time position is not eligible for benefits. This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time; all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of their application.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.  Associate degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.  Proficiency in both American Sign Language and English required.  One (1) to three (3) years of event planning experience is strongly preferred.  Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

Above average communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required- with both Deaf and hearing communities.  The successful candidate should actively participate as an integral part of the local Deaf community with native or near-native American Sign Language fluency.  Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, exercise detail orientation and creative thinking/problem-solving, and time management also required; must be able to foresee risks and anticipate needs.  Ability to remain patient and professional, particularly when working through complex situations.  Advanced technical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite preferred.

Occasional weekend and evening hours required.
