Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Mike Curb College at Belmont University invites applications for a faculty position in the department of Film, Television, and Media Production (FTMP) .
- FTMP houses four majors:
- Motion Pictures Production – includes emphases in directing, producing, cinematography, editing, and sound design.
- Media Production - sports production, concerts and live events, brand content, corporate/industrial content.
- Film and Television Writing.
- Cinema and Television Studies.
- FTMP has been ranked as a top 20 film school in North America by Variety Magazine.
- FTMP began as Cinema, Television, and Media in 2013.
- First university campus with a certified Dolby Atmos theatre.
- Other facilities include numerous state-of-the-art mixing theatres, foley/ADR facilities, color-correction suites, group edit labs, group edit suites, client suites, and over 80 remote servers for students to continue their work off-campus.
- Beyond the 250-seat Dolby Atmos mixing theatre, Curb College also houses multiple multi-cam stages and control rooms, a 2,500sq ft sound stage with lighting grid, and maintains numerous equipment management spaces.
- Students learn on Avid Media Composer, Avid Nexis, Davinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, and on equipment such as the Alexa LF, Arri Amira, Canon C200s and C300s, Sony FX9, FS7s, and current trends in grip and lighting equipment as well as more traditional packages.
- According to the Tennessee Entertainment Commission, Tennessee is 5th in the nation for employment in motion pictures and video production.
- Developing expansions into academic programs of narrative games and interactive media, narrative animation, production design, and studio executive leadership. The ideal candidate will have expertise in a combination of one of our existing programs (Cinematography preferred) along with experience in one of the development programs.

- All undergraduates complete a general education program with significant interdisciplinary components. Ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses in this program is expected.
Functions as required by the Department Include:
- Teach courses in applicant's expertise (cinematography preferred), and potentially in general production courses as well.
- Assist in development of additional academic programs and courses.
- Complete 24 workload hours, or equivalent, per academic year.
- Advise and mentor students in research and other class-related projects.
- Engage in activities to support the mission and vision of Belmont University and the college in which you teach.
- Participate in departmental and university committee work.
- Engage in scholarly activity and professional development.
- Advise students in course selection and degree completion.
- Participate in a local church and the community.
- Abide by all relevant university and/or department procedures and policies.
- Manage online grading system and learning management system.
- Timely submission of book orders, if textbooks required.
- Maintain regular office hours.

Required Qualifications :

- Terminal degree (MFA or equivalent) in film, television, or media production or a closely related field, and/or possess substantial equivalent professional experience with known credits.
- At least eight years of professional experience in the field in one of FTMP’s existing areas of production emphasis: Directing, Producing, Writing, Cinematography, Editing, or Sound Design. Cinematography preferred for this hire.
- Secondary experience in AR, VR, UI/UX design, 3D animation/modeling/rigging, or in app design, engineering, or programming preferred.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence at the collegiate level is strongly preferred.
- Record of notable credits in film and/or television production.
- Passion for mentorship, creative collaboration, and fostering student success.
- Experience with Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve or similar NLEs and post-production applications preferred.

Required Experience 8 years professional industry experience. 3 years experience in higher ed preferred.
