Job Description
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Sr. Human Resources Specialist for the Compensation team to provide professional consultation and administrative oversight on critical compensation projects. Reporting to the Director of Compensation, this role will primarily focus on monitoring and tracking the UM System compensation request inbox as well as managing classification and evaluation projects independently. Depending on needs of the institution, experience, performance, and interest in projects related areas of expertise will be added to the job description and allow for future professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary support in logging and tracking incoming work
requests and routine updates:
- Monitor all incoming work requests to log and assign to team
- Maintaining job code tables
- Updating classification specifications
- Updating Job descriptions
- Job code detail management
- Pay matrices updates
- Update other compensation-related tools as needed
- Classification of staff positions:
- Review and evaluate requests for job evaluations
- Provide highest level of customer service and guidance to Human
Resources Leaders and Partners, which may include any of the
following:
- Review job questionnaires
- Utilize survey sources, market references, internal equity and other data as appropriate
- Utilize grading tool to analyze information and make recommendations on pay grade level
- Document findings and recommendations to contribute to a comprehensive report
- Work closely with compensation Team assisting on a variety of
projects including:
- Assist with salary structure updates, analysis, and maintenance
- Assist with supporting documents that contribute to the roll out, communication, and ongoing administration of new and existing staff compensation initiatives
- Assist with preparing reports, presentations, communications, and documentation as required
- Manage all projects in a timely manner. Ensure all aspects of requests are addressed within agreed upon service window, including job classifications, position number request, maintaining job descriptions, leveling guides, and other routine compensation documentation
Shift
M-F; 40 hours per week. Typically, business hours are 8am-5pm CST.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and proficiency using Microsoft Excel, and experience working with large data files from multiple sources. Experience creating visual presentations of organized analysis of data.
Possesses conceptual knowledge in the HR discipline and works toward broadening capabilities in the area.
Demonstrated strong attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $60,000
Grade: GGS-10
