About the Opportunity
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities and its nine tenure units are the home of the Experiential Liberal Arts. Through its research, teaching, and engagement missions, the college collaborates across the university, the Northeastern network, and partners around the globe. We are strongly committed to fostering excellence through diversity and enthusiastically welcome nominations and applications from members of groups underrepresented in academia. Successful faculty in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities will be dynamic and innovative scholars with a record of research and teaching excellence and a commitment to improved equity, diversity, and inclusion. Strong candidates for this position will have the expertise, knowledge, and skills to build their research, pedagogy, and curriculum in ways that reflect and enhance this commitment.
Responsibilities
The Department of Political Science seeks to fill a non-tenure track job opening for an Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Full Teaching Professor in U.S. politics, with an emphasis on U.S. institutions, federalism, urban politics, and quantitative techniques. The Department serves a robust undergraduate population, both its own majors and from across the university, and graduate students in its MA and PhD programs.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level in U.S. national politics, federalism, state and local politics, urban politics, and quantitative techniques. Expertise in particular policy domains (e.g., education, health, social welfare policy) a plus. Experience in experiential learning is welcome. While the need to teach the occasional course via online modalities exists, the position is in residence at Northeastern's Boston campus.
Teaching faculty positions carry a 3:3 teaching load. Opportunities for summer teaching for additional compensation are available. The successful candidate will also contribute to student advising and other departmental service responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Political Science or related fields in hand by the employment start date is required.
