Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Coordinator of Student Success and Support to join our Student Life team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. 

As the Coordinator of Student Success and Support, you will play an important role in our students’ lives by implementing and coordinating programs and initiatives designed to support the success and retention of students. This role will be tasked with launching new retention initiatives, utilizing the software EdSights. You will collaborate with the Student Success Committee and the Student Outreach & Support office to identify barriers to student retention and develop unique and targeted strategies to address them. The Coordinator of Student Success & Support will provide individualized support to students experiencing mental health, medical, personal and academic challenges. 

 

The role requires the incumbent to possess a high degree of skill in interpersonal communication, specifically in active and empathetic listening. The coordinator must be adept at fostering student development within the context of a population inclusive of racial, ethnic, cultural, and sexual differences. The incumbent will need to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism and maturity in handling sensitive information and student interactions. The role is responsible for maintaining confidential records and preparing and tracking reports on a variety of data points.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as the program sponsor and outreach specialist for the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the EdSights software program.   Provide effective and efficient management of student success programs and initiatives to ensure that resources are utilized effectively to achieve objectives.  Serve on the Student Success Committee. Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify trends, challenges and opportunities for student success and retention and develop and implement intervention strategies and programming to address them. Maintain accurate records of student interactions and outcomes to track progress and measure program effectiveness, utilizing EdSights and Maxient. Serve on the CARE Team and support the Student Outreach and Support office. Provide direct outreach to students and work collaboratively with members of the CARE Team to identify tailored systems of support. Conduct assessments and provide referrals and short-term solution-focused support to students experiencing a variety of personal and/or academic stressors. Stay informed about best practices in student success and retention and incorporate culturally responsive pathways for student achievement, persistence and degree completion.  Provide Academic Affairs and Student Affairs with quantitative and qualitative data about the identified students to inform intentional interdepartmental efforts to enhance retention efforts. Participate in other campus committees and task forces related to student success and retention, as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (psychology, social work, counseling, or school counseling) plus at least one (1) year of related experience working with college students in an academic or advising capacity.
