Job Description:
The Director of Online & eLearning is a newly created position housed in the Office of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will provide University-level long-term and day-to-day management of e-Learning activities (online and hybrid courses and programs and quality assurance) offered by the University.
Responsibilities:
- Works with faculty to develop appropriately unified course format and packaging to provide students with seamless and user-friendly online learning as they take different courses and to explore and develop new fully online/hybrid course offerings (graduate and undergraduate)
- Meets regularly with the Deans and Chairs and the Departmental Program Committees to develop and revise responsive plans for the Colleges and Departments’ initiatives in online education, and to revise online curriculum, and online program delivery.
- Works with the Faculty Information Technology Committee (FITC)
to update policies and administrative practices and to collaborate
with academic stakeholders to develop strategic plan for
online/hybrid learning
Coordinates the approval process for new and revises online/hybrid courses/programs and monitors faculty online/hybrid courses (for compliance with policies) - Develop faculty workshops on online pedagogy, understanding and apply Quality Matter rubric, and certification for teaching online. Conducts formative assessments of faculty online teaching abilities, recommending opportunities for improving those abilities
Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Minimum of three years’ experience in online education, distance education, or related field
- Experience managing the delivery of online or hybrid academic program
- Good writing skills for higher education communications
- Understanding of adult learning theories and online learning theories
- Ability to provide professional development for faculty
- Minimum of three years’ experience with a learning management system (Blackboard Learn preferred)
- Quality Matters Certified OLC Certified
