Description:
Under direct supervision, functions as a system administrator engaged in supporting hardware and operating system software; operates complex systems or subsystems.
1. Under direct supervision, maintains integrity and security of the operating system environment.
2. Performs software installations and upgrades to hardware and operating system software; maintains in accordance with established information technology policies and procedures.
3. Performs server administration setup.
4. Coordinates disk space planning and management.
5. Performs data backups and recoveries.
6. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures and use of offsite storage and retrieval services.
7. Provides recommendations regarding hardware and system software planning and budgeting.
8. Participates in change control. 9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
