Senior Instructor in Biomedical Sciences

The University of Macau (UM) is an internationalized public comprehensive university in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). In 2013, UM launched the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) (http://fhs.um.edu.mo/), which aims at providing excellent education programmes, performing outstanding research and delivering dedicated services to the community. The academic programmes offered by and supported by the Department of Biomedical Sciences (DBS) of FHS aim at exploring the essence of human beings, learning about biological and chemical systems of human body and applying this interdisciplinary knowledge to medical issues that are related to health and diseases.

DBS now offers two academic programmes: Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Master of Science in Data Science (with specialization in Precision Medicine), and supports the teaching activities in the General Education courses and the Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences programme. DBS of FHS now invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor in Biomedical Sciences. The candidate is expected to have strong exposure in cancer research and/or animal science.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree in related biological, health and/or medical studies. Candidates with at least two years of working experience in teaching and research in biomedical sciences is preferable. A candidate who has a solid experience in animal science, using experimental rodents and/or managing animal rooms has an advantage.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in summer 2025.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting MOP611,940 (approximately USD75,550) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
