Position: Area Coordinator for First-Year Experience

The Office of Residence Life at Anna Maria College is now accepting applications for a professional, full-time, live-in Area Coordinator. The Assistant Coordinator (AC) will be supervised by and report to the Director of Residence Life & Student Conduct. The AC must be able to serve as a role model and mentor to students in their community and on-campus, as well as appropriately respond to emergencies and other situations. The AC supports and fosters the mission of the College and of Residence Life. They are expected to uphold and follow College and residence hall policies and procedures and State and Federal laws.

The AC is responsible for supporting the mission of the College by developing environments conducive to student learning and academic success, respecting, appreciating, and advocating for the diversity of our student population, and supporting the holistic development of students. The AC will oversee the operations and supervision of Madonna Hall, a primarily first-year community. Duties include but are not limited to supervision of 10 resident assistants; liaison with administrators, faculty, and staff; the development of specialized programming in the halls specifically as it relates to residential engagement and student support; support large-scale campus events; general housing responsibilities; and active participation in the Student Conduct Process. The AC actively leads RA Recruitment & Selection, RA Training, and residential First-Year Experience programming. The AC actively participates in Housing Selection, the management of residence hall facility and occupancy issues, and the on-call duty rotation responding to emergencies.

Evening and weekend work are required.

General Responsibilities
  • • Perform a broad range of administrative, student conduct, and programmatic duties to assist the Residence Life team in building a positive on-campus experience for residents
  • • Supervise 10 Resident Assistants including holding one-on-ones and providing continued training and support around community building, programming, and other administrative duties
  • • Co-Plan and facilitate Fall and Winter RA Training during the year on an as-needed basis
  • • Co-Plan and facilitate RA Recruitment & Selection
  • • Manage the day-to-day housing operations and other administrative duties of Madonna Hall including but not limited to housing assignments, move-in, move-out, room inspections, room changes, and key distribution and management.
  • • Coordinate programming efforts for first-year residents to build a positive first-year experience and support retention efforts
  • • Assist in first-year and transfer experience events including Summer, Fall and Spring Orientation, Welcome Week, etc.
  • • Advise the Residence Hall Association to foster leadership experiences for students.
  • • Act as a liaison between Residence Life and other College administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • • Maintain presence on campus, in the residence halls, at major campus events (as determined necessary) and maintain primary residence on-campus
  • • Be familiar with, role model, and be able to address all AMC College and Residence Hall Policies and Procedures
  • • Serve as a Student Conduct Officer and facilitate Student Conduct Meetings as assigned
  • • Serve in the on-call duty rotation for campus responding to RA and resident concerns, emergencies, etc.
  • • Be able to appropriately respond to incidents, document incidents, maintain student privacy and confidentiality, and apply FERPA policies
  • • Attend and participate in all mandatory Residence Life events such as, but not limited to: Move-In, Move-Out, Housing Selection, RA Selection Events, End-of-Year Celebration, etc.
  • • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, good professional judgment, residence life experience, community development experience, emergency management experience, strong computer skills, and the skills needed to work successfully in a team environment.
