Position Description
The Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies at the University of Mississippi is seeking an Instructional Assistant Professor, beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. The IAP will teach a 3-3 course load as assigned by the director of the Isom Center. The bulk of these courses will be Introduction to Gender Studies. The IAP will also be an advisor for incoming students interested in exploring topics of gender and sexuality, both by teaching Introduction to Gender Studies and Introduction to Queer Studies and by developing some co-curricular events. This position is in-person and requires residence in Oxford, Mississippi (or drivable surrounding areas).
Founded in 1981, the Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies offers undergraduate and graduate minors and has partnered with Departments of English, Higher Education, History, Music, and Psychology to offer a gender studies emphasis in their respective Ph.D. programs. In addition to our faculty, cross listed courses are taught by Gender Studies affiliates across the university. The Gender Studies program at the University of Mississippi emphasizes interdisciplinarity and intersectionality in the examination of ideological, cultural, and historical forces that have constructed and transformed gender and sexuality. The Isom Center is committed to creating inclusive spaces, in the classroom and the larger community.
Applicants with specialties in Black feminism, queer studies, and/or trans studies are encouraged to apply.
Job responsibilities: teach courses, hold regular office hours, support students, advice the Gender Studies Living/Learning Community.

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Gender Studies or related field with Gender Studies emphasis
