THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AT LEUPHANA UNIVERSITY LÜNEBURG INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING FULL PROFESSORSHIP:

Social Pedagogy (W2/W3)

For this position, we are seeking a committed researcher with an outstanding research profile in combination with a track record of unique ideas put into action, impacting their field as well as society. You explore social pedagogy, ideally the field of child and youth welfare services, from an empirical perspective which is theoretically well reflected. You are dedicated to empirical research with excellent knowledge in either qualitative methods, quantitative methods, or both. Ideally, you are also experienced in conducting mixed-methods research.

You have a strong commitment to high quality research as demonstrated by a publication record in national and international high-ranking scientific journals or renowned anthologies. You have successfully acquired third-party funding, ideally funded from well-established research funding organizations (DFG or comparable funding programmes). You are committed to collaborative research with national and international partners demonstrated by your vibrant (international) network.

Your academic work gives evidence of an innovative teaching portfolio in the subject area of the professorship. Additionally, you have experience in the supervision of students (Bachelor, Master), ideally also of PhD students. Furthermore, it is your special concern to get postgraduate students involved into your own research.

You share the idea of the university as an educational community and show recognizable potential for leadership responsibility with regard to the tasks of a professorship, ideally you have experience in leading research teams/working groups.

The professorial position will be filled in accordance with pay grade W2/W3 (university full professorship). Formal requirements are based on § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) and include: a university degree in social pedagogy, educational science, sociology, social work, political sciences or another discipline relevant to the open position; your aptitude for teaching; and your ability to engage in independent academic research as demonstrated by the outstanding quality of your dissertation leading to a doctoral degree relevant to the open position, and additional academic achievements obtained, i.e., in the course of being an assistant professor, during your postdoctoral lecture qualification (German: Habilitation) or other achievements recognized as being equivalent to a postdoctoral qualification.
