Assistant Teaching Professor of Biology (12 month, teaching track)
Position Summary:
The Department of Biology at Gannon University is accepting applications for a full-time, twelve-month, Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning April 2025. We seek a dynamic educator to join our existing 16 faculty members in providing high-quality instructional experiences. Preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching experience in human anatomy and physiology and microbiology, and to individuals with experience instructing nursing/health science students.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory biology courses, including human anatomy and physiology and microbiology courses across all three academic semesters (summer, spring, and fall). Teaching-track faculty teach 27 credit hours in the academic year including evening classes. All faculty are expected to participate in academic advising, pursue professional development, and provide service to the University, community, and the profession. Teaching-track faculty are employed on renewable one-year contracts to start, which then become three and five-year renewals with demonstrated positive job performance.
Review of applications will begin October 31, 2024 and continue until the position is filled. Applications should include (1) a cover letter, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) unofficial graduate transcripts (official required for hire), and (4) a statement of teaching philosophy that specifically addresses the needs and challenges of nursing/health science students.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must minimally hold an Master's degree in Biology or closely-related field. Preference will be given to individuals holding degrees (M.S. and Ph.D.) in Biology.
Candidates must possess effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and an ability to be an effective team member.
Candidates must be able to support and promote the University's inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and professional education traditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in teaching and evidence of teaching effectiveness in higher education are preferred.
