PURPOSE
Postdoctoral Research Associate will work with Dr. Alexandr Chernyavskiy, performing research in Applied Mathematics and teaching one course per semester in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at TAMUCC.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Research
Percent Effort: 70%
Job Duties
- Performing research in Applied Mathematics
- Dissemination of results in quality academic
publications
- Presenting results at national and international
conferences
Functional Area 2: Teaching
Percent Effort: 20%
Job Duties
- Delivering lectures and teaching materials that suit Applied
Mathematics curriculum
- Grading assignments, quizzes, exams
- Holding office hours
- Support and promote academic missions of Applied Mathematics in
general.
Functional Area 3: Support
Percent Effort: 10%
Job Duties
- Participate in department committees
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in Mathematics, or closely related field
- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,
Outlook, Teams, etc)
- Independent, self-motivated, and well organized.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be a team
player.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in coordinating/ managing research
projects.
- Teaching experience in a university setting.
- Knowledge of modern teaching and learning
techniques.
- Evidence of ability to work and collaborate effectively within
a community.
- Experience with some of the following topics:
- Existence and stability of nonlinear waves
- Periodic and traveling waves
- Numerical methods
- Variational methods
- Existence and stability of nonlinear waves
Note: Funding is temporary. This is a two-year position.
SALARY: $4,166.67 approx. monthly ($50,000 approx. annually)
