FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Anthropology at Hunter College of The City University of New York (https://hunter.cuny.edu/artsci/anthropology/) invites applications for a position at the rank of Doctoral Lecturer. This is a full-time appointment with a renewable contract and eligibility for a Certificate of Continuous Service.

We seek a Doctoral Lecturer to teach large introductory lectures in biological anthropology/human biology along with their associated laboratory sections. The doctoral lecturer is responsible for lecturing, grading, and facilitating and overseeing lab sessions. Lectures and laboratory sections will be taught in-person at Hunter College’s 68th Street campus.

QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in Anthropology, Human Biology or related field required. Also required are demonstrated teaching experience, scholarship and/or professional achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Applicants must also have a commitment to work in multicultural and urban education settings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience teaching lecture and laboratory sections of introductory biological anthropology courses; supervising laboratory instructors; advising and mentoring students.

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience ($79,808 – $86,698).
