Job Summary
This position is a tenure track position and requires teaching core political science course to include Introduction to American Government (POLS 1101).
To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students in the classroom and to encourage transformative learning experiences outside of the classroom through the Department of Government and Sociology's certificate programs, internship opportunities, and beyond.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work collegially with others in service to the University. A doctoral degree in political science by the date of appointment is required, but we will consider exceptional ABD students who are within one year of completing their Ph.D. Faculty instruct academic courses and support the department, along with college and university goals by supporting the academic environment to benefit the educational mission of the University.

Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A Ph.D. (terminal degree) in the political science at the time of the appointment is expected.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Hiring preference will be given to faculty who demonstrate an understanding of Georgia College's mission and who are enthusiastic about working closely with high-achieving students within an academic community dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through learning and scholarship.
Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.
Evidence of prior experience teaching a course like POLS 1101 is highly preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in non-profit management, as well as the ability to contribute to the Department's NASPAA-accredited Master's of Public Administration program.
Successful candidates will be able to develop and teach core courses in the area of non-profit management for the MPA program, and occasional elective courses for the MPA program and the undergraduate non-profit leadership program. The ideal candidate will also be able to contribute to GCSU's curriculum by teaching in the political science program and topical courses in either GC1Y or GC2Y.
